Dark place, quiet surroundings…
And her music to fit in the mood.
I found comfort in her soulful voice, got mesmerized with her beauty and I saw my life through her words. That’s how amazing this beautiful singing flower is.
Jasmine Lucilla Elizabeth Jennifer van den Bogaerde. Her long name just depicts how beautiful she is. She’s a singing bird whom resides somewhere in the land of the English people, hence her screen name “Birdy”.
Whenever I feel lonely, I scroll on my playlist to stream her music, particularly her songs “Skinny Love”, “Wings”, “Light Me Up” and “Tee Shirt”. She can always calm my nerves down, whenever I’m startled. My beloved reader, if you want to know me deeper than my skin, dig in her lyrics.
She’s my living statue; her courage to express herself with her songs and music videos made me believe that I’m not the only one whose soul is wearing the cloth of sad yet beautiful art. Her age is close to mine; we only have 3 years gap.
I really pray that someday, she’ll hold a concert here in my country. Or if not, I will be able to go to England and meet her personally. I do wish that she’ll read this and make a letter of response. She’s on my bucket list, you know.

“And honey, your soul could never grow old. It’s evergreen.”
You’ve said this line in one of your popular songs, “Thinking Out Loud.” It’s pretty obvious that you dedicated this to the love of your life, whoever that lucky girl is.
I’ve written this letter to you today, hoping that you can/will read this in the future.
To my beloved Ed Sheeran,
Back when I was broken because I was left by my first love, you told me that you’ll pick up my broken pieces and build something beautiful, like a lego house. Slowly and gently, you did. Since that moment, I started filling up my playlist with your words. There’s this time that you told me to kiss you, because we both wanna be loved. I did, in my dreams. We were strolling somewhere in Seattle when I pulled you close to me, caressed your cheeks and planted a sweet kiss on your light apricot lips. What a beautiful moment that was. ‘Twas already late afternoon, so you decided to take me home. Before I slept, you called me and asked if I could see the stars from Amsterdam. I wish I could. Amsterdam’s really far from where I live and I always wanted to go there, with the person I love, with you. The next day, I woke up, realizing that everything was just a dream. I stood up and grabbed my earphones to hear your words. Involuntarily, it became a routine. I just can’t help myself from sticking to those beautiful words you have written.
I know you don’t know me, not even a bit of my shadow. But I hope you’ll notice me, even just for seconds. It’s been my dream to spend time with one of the most beautiful songwriters in the history. Your soul is evergreen, my dear Ed. I’m hoping to hear more of you in the near future. xoxo
Your hopeless romantic fangirl,
